Nafsaniyoun International Conference, coordinated yearly since 2021, is an innovative and influential concept by Nafsaniyoun Center with the aim of exchanging scientific psychological and humanistic information and reaching out to recommendations that will be a roadmap for future research and fieldwork. The yearly conference's theme varies depending on the local and global situation that is fluctuating, highlighting the instability of the situation individuals are living in.
Today we stand exhausted yet audacious, contemplating the world and experiencing its rapid changes at all levels. The entire world stood shocked by the ordeals it has gone through and continues to go through. The suffering of humanity propelled us to organize Nafsaniyoun's first international conference, held last year, entitled “Civilizations and its Discontents”. The conference dealt with the psychological, social, and political effects of the crises while acknowledging the major impact of the COVID-19 pandemic .Faced with these challenges, we decided this year to monitor the major transformations that the world is facing by organizing the second Nafsaniyoun International Conference, entitled AGORA, under the patronage of the Lebanese Order of Psychologists, represented by Dr. Leyla Akoury Dirani.
Each speaker has complete freedom to choose the topic he considers appropriate and necessary to present according to his specialty’s field. The primary aim of the conference is to answer this central question: “What will the world look like tomorrow"?
AGORA is the arena in which philosophers and scientists have been meeting in Athens since 406 BC to discuss, debate, and argue about the most critical issues. The title of the conference represents this symbolism. AGORA also symbolizes the exit from the forced confinement imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic to the fields, the emptiness, and the light.
